Medical Sign Language (ASL)

This program prepares healthcare professionals to provide basic communication skills in ASL to deaf and hard of hearing patients in medical office settings and in hospitals. In addition to workplace ASL, this program provides trans-cultural training for current and future healthcare professionals. Emphasis is placed on enhancing quality of patient care. No prior knowledge of ASL or sign language necessary. Please note: this workshop does not replace the importance of qualified ASL Interpreters in the medical exam room, instead this workshop is designed to help the nursing staff to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing patients during standard procedures.
