Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing - Introduction

This class on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing provides an overview of the 14 geometric tolerances. Participants will learn to recognize each tolerance by its symbol and understand what part features are being controlled by the tolerance and what part features are being used as references for the geometric tolerance.

Part drawings illustrating how each of the tolerances are applied will be discussed and basic inspection methods for each will be presented.

Presentations include the use of animations and real part examples to illustrate the use of GD&T and the benefits realized in terms of cost savings, ease of manufacture, and the preservation of the functional requirements of a design.

This class is based on the current ASME Y14.5-2009 standard.
