Business Data Analyst Professional   

Data is now being used by businesses across all major industries (health, finance, manufacturing, marketing, government) in ways unimagined just a few years ago. In order to remain competitive all organizations need to learn how to use data to make critical business decisions. More and more employees will be expected to learn how to analyze data, and create compelling data visualizations that make since of the data. In this program, you will learn business analytics while learning Excel, Statistics, SQL, and Tableau. This program will also introduce and discuss how newer technologies such as Big Data, Machine Leaning, and Artificial intelligence, (AI) are driving the need for a more data savvy workforce.

In 2020, job openings for data scientists and similar advanced analytical roles will reach 61,799. This is a significant number, but it represents just 2% of the projected demand across all job roles requiring data and analytics skill.

This course is for anyone who wants to learn about Statistics in Excel, SQL, and Tableau. Also managers, sales managers, data analyst, digital marketers, students (business, sociology, psychology, marketing, computer science, math, and IT majors).

The class format is online Instructor led classes, assigned reading, videos, and exercises. One-on one mentoring will be available to answer any questions and provide individual technical training when needed. Online live Instructor led hands on instructions with lectures and in-class projects. Upon the successful completion of this program, you will earn a Certificate of Completion in the MCC Business Data Analyst Program.

You will learn basic statistics while learning business analytics using Excel. You will learn how to use statistical analysis and create compelling visual graphics that are becoming a standard skill set is today’s data-centric economy.

Prerequisites: If you do not already know how to use Excel then you will need to complete some initial training before the beginning of the program. You will need to be interviewed by one of our program manager to help you decide what program best suits your needs, and objectives. Before you can be admitted into this program, you will need to be enrolled in our free online pre-course work. A 20-hour pre-program study is required to start Excel, and SQL Intro.

Topics to be covered will include:

Data Analytics with Excel Student will learn the basics of a Business Data Analytics including Pivot Tables, VBA Scripting, VSLookup, Data visualization (Charts, Graphs, and Histograms), data wrangling. Calculations and Analysis.

Statistics and Set Theory Math Review For the students that a need a quick refresher… Review of Descriptive Statistics to compliment the Data Analytics with Excel course. This will include essential vocabulary and concepts such as probability, Bayes, and Binomial Theorem. In addition, essential vocabulary and concepts such as set theory, intersections, unions, sigma notation, to compliment the Intro to SQL course. You will be given basic problem examples and helpful reference sheets.

Intro to SQL An introductory course to MySQL. This class introduces SQL Basics (SELECT, JOIN, WHERE), SQL Joins, SQL Aggregations (SUM, MIN, MAX, COUNT, DASE DATE).

Tableau Business Intelligence (BI) The average salary for a Business Intelligence Manager with Tableau Software skills is $100,629. Tableau is user friendly and take advantage of data that is available from the IT Department. It can help anyone see and understand his or her data. Tableau can connect to almost any database, drag and drop to create visualizations, and can be easily shared with co-workers.

Intro to Emerging Technologies Student will be introduced to the concepts of Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and “Big Data”. This course will help you learn more about these newer technologies and refer you to some of our related courses and online learning material to further explore these topics.

Final Project Your final project will be completed individually. You will use the techniques you learned to create a solution to a real world project using real data. Get creative and come up with something exciting to show off to the whole world.
