A Front-End developer uses HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a user experience on the internet that is seamless and dynamic. We will build on the Web Design & Development I course basics to add even more interactions and data processing power with JavaScript. We will learn what it takes to advance from creating simple static websites to sophisticated web interfaces that can communicate with a server.
The goal of a Front-End developer is to create clear, accessible, fast interfaces that will enable people to understand and engage with the information they see. They implement the application functionality of the website and have become indispensable in today's digital economy. Front-End development goes beyond just the pretty facade of the web page; it includes interfacing with a server to fetch user data from a server, post user input to be saved in a database, and display changes in the application's state by updating the client's view. We will learn to weave these techniques together to create fully-fledged online apps with components such as user signup and login forms.
In this course, we will dive into Javascript and software design patterns for the web. We will talk about code organization and application architecture patterns such as Model-View-Controller and sending and receiving data asynchronously over the HTTP/S protocol. The final segment of the class covers essential career skills so students can have the best chance of landing a job quickly in this industry.
Web Design & Development II is the second of three stand-alone courses that together will allow you to master the range of technologies used to develop high-quality websites that work seamlessly on the mobile, tablet, and desktop browsers.
